The local Spanish plumbers (fontanero) were all out of ideas, so ex-pat, Mr C. went online in search of help with the problem that that was getting worse each time another tradesperson set his “grips” upon it.
Finished in natural polished brass, this tap is part of a set in his villa in Mallorca, so the idea of having to replace it was not a viable one.
After a couple of e-mails, we said we would love to see “what could(n’t) be done”.
When the 8kg tap arrived by DHL we were surprised at the quality of this relatively new piece.  We were expecting the usual stuff made in China and sold around the world.
But whilst it was made of solid brass, the assembly was floored from the start and when previous attempts had been made to get it apart, further damage had been caused.
Of course we succeeded where everyone else had failed and we now have a holiday home waiting for our attendance – (Just so long as we bring a tool bag for tap maintenance!).
