Be careful where you go…

We were having a frank conversation with a potential client the other day about why they should use us, rather than a chrome plating company that specialises in classic car parts.

I asked, ” Do they check the thickness of the tap shafts to make sure they are within 0.1mm tolerance along their operating length? Are they able to remanufacture parts in brass and fit them, to make a non-functioning tap work again? Do they check and machine the seats where the new washers will be sealing against? Do they even fit new washers? Do they replace the packing gland materials with new, to make sure water isn’t coming up the shafts in operation? Do they assemble the parts using a WRAS approved lubricant? Do they pressure test the taps once they have finished building them?”
There was a long pause and she said, “Is your address on the website?”

If you want to make sure of anything we CAN do, give us a call. (but we don’t do bumpers…)

In Addition
We bought these taps off of Ebay as a little experiment.

SOLD AS – “Refurbished and ready to fit”
We took them apart to see how much work had really been done…
The answer was – NOT MUCH AT ALL!! ( Apart from a wash and brush up.)
So when there’s a choice of our taps at £169 and someone else’s at £69, you know the reason why.
