Long-spouted taps can be installed for a multitude of reasons. Normally where the mounting point of the base of the tap is a bit too far away. A roll top bath, or a vanity unit with an inset basin, for instance.

The featured image taps were fitted in a stately home, where the original owner (allegedly) had many female guests to stay for the weekend and the double-ended 7 foot bath used centre-mounted taps, so neither occupant had the uncomfortable position.
