Bespoke machining requirements

Sometimes it seems that there is nothing you can do but throw perfectly good taps away, just because the mounting has failed or the nut has stripped!

But at Tap Refurbishment, we much prefer to say “YES“, than to say no.

It just takes a bit of ingenious thought and a different perspective to come up with a fix. Three recent cases are perfect examples –

1. The nuts had stripped on an antique bath tap, but they were a thread that is no longer kept off the shelf. Which meant the bath would be thrown away. No matter, we’ll just make some from scratch! (in the main picture)

2. The mounting flange on a modern chrome plated tap was never up to the job of holding up the drunk person, that used it to support themselves, in an exclusive Marylebone hotel!  But with a few measurements taken, a piece of brass, some polishing and chrome plating, the new one looks like it was meant to be there.

3. A lost indice was spoiling the look of a customer’s antique taps. They didn’t want it plated, as the rest of the taps were “a bit shabby-chic”. But with the coloured section painted in, the guesswork of “hot or cold” was solved.

If you have a problem that needs some inventive thought, give us a call.
